Coffee Cup Coaching: DeWing Too Much?

Spring is coming, a time for renewal, spring cleaning, and coming alive. As we redecorate and plant bulbs, it’s also a great time to do a bit of mental/social cleanup and plant new seeds for our success.

Psst: No time to read? Check out this month’s musical message first. It will rev you up to read on!

Thinking back to the January Topic of Goal Setting, you’ll remember that empowered women take the full month of January to reset intentions. We do not march to the tune of marketing media that mandates we arbitrarily set “New Year’s resolutions.”

DeWs Choose – our path, our focus, our passions! We slow down, listen to our inner rhythms, go “dark” if you will, during winter’s long nights to become more fully centered on what we desire to create. We test these in February, to gain more clarity, then activate in March.

DeWs Choose – to be authentic in everything we DeW!! With conference season heating up, family gatherings, school plays, and career obligations, life can get overwhelming. It truly takes a village – and it starts with Choosing What You Want to DeW! Time for “spring cleaning” of obligations and habits.

Success is won with these magic words: “Thank you for the invitation, but I pass!”

That’s right, DeWs know how to say “NO” with integrity. DeWs know what is in alignment with their goals, their energy, and their mission. Everything else if for another DeW to do. I’m encouraging you to accept FOMO (fear of missing out) as a part of your personal growth. We truly cannot be everywhere all the time.

DeWs Spring into Action with these helpful steps:

  • What are my TOP three priorities for the next 90 days?
  • If I accomplish these, how will this impact my life, my business, my family?
  • If I don’t accomplish these, what is the impact?
  • Are these really my TOP 3? (or someone else’s)

Advanced DeW challenge: make a list of everything that distracts you from accomplishing your purpose. Vow to do a bit of “mental/social spring cleaning.” For example, turn off Facebook notifications, or claim one night a week as a TV-free zone. Hire a housekeeper once a month, once a week, to transform chore time into creative time. Have fun making your “To DeW List.”

This month’s video features one of my favorite female artists, India Arie. Enjoy the lyrics of I Choose as you declare liberation from fear, anxiety, and FOMO.

Welcome to spring – fresh starts, new beginnings!
