Coffee Cup Coaching: Courage

“Feel the fear and do it anyway.”

These were the words inscribed on a pendant given to me from my best friend on her wedding day. With tear-filled eyes, she shared, “You are the most courageous person I know. I see how life throws bigger and bigger things at you and you walk through them all. I know you are afraid, I know you get confused, and yet you remain steadfast in your commitment. You are a loyal and true friend to those you love, even through times of difficulty.”

That was twelve years ago, and her words continue to encourage me. I think she accurately described the mindset of entrepreneurs: the more committed we become to our dream, the more difficult the journey.

Here’s the good news – You are equipped.

Everything you need is already inside you, waiting to be tapped.

    • Difficulty turns to Delight as we courageously reach out for support.
    • Obstacles become Opportunity over time.
    • Challenges become Milestones.

The emotions that make this possible are courage, perseverance, self-worth, self-belief, self-love. The tools that accelerate the pace of achievement are collaboration, connection, and creativity.

Dews have all of these in spades.

This month, I invite you to reach out to someone you admire in the DeW community. Perhaps someone you don’t yet know. Find the courage to say, “I’ve been watching you, admiring you, and wonder if you can help me with a challenge in my life? It would mean so much to me if we could share a cup of coffee for an hour. I’d really appreciate your perspective.”

We were never designed to get through life on our own. I’ve had guides and mentors every step of the way to usher me across the threshold to the next level. Now is an excellent time to be courageous, to ask and receive the support of others.
